Description
Teresa Axten was a true “townie” who grew up in Amesbury and graduated in the 1945 class of Amesbury High School. She was a shining example of living an impactful life full of family, church, entrepreneurship and community service. As a passionate and tireless advocate of education, Teresa was granted a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Massachusetts Association of School Committees after her 30-year tenure on the Amesbury School Committee. She was awarded the “Friend of Education” at AEFI’s first Hall of Honor in 2003 and then became an early member of our Executive Board of Directors and remained in that role until her death. She volunteered in her daughter Karen’s classroom at Cashman Elementary School leaving an indelible volunteer footprint. Teresa owned and operated Terry’s Flower Shop and the Bride & Dress Shoppe in Amesbury. She was a woman ahead of her time and is a role model of perseverance, commitment and dedication always striving for excellence and goodness throughout her life. We are humbled and honored to be able to celebrate Terry’s life-long support for our schools through memorial donations to AEFI. Those donations will be used to fund grants and emergency needs of students.
